Trump will convene a meeting of his Cabinet at the presidential retreat site of Camp David on Friday amid continuing missile exchanges between the U.S. and Iran.

The Maryland-based retreat center has historically been a site for presidents to escape the confines of the capital and has also served as a host site for foreign leaders.

The retreat was famously the location where President Jimmy Carter brokered the 1978 Camp David Accords, a peace framework between Israel and Egypt. The framework was signed by former Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and former Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin.


President Donald Trump boarded Marine One at the White House on Friday morning and departed for a Cabinet meeting at Camp David.

Joining the president onboard Marine One were his Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, War Secretary Pete Hegseth and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum.

The off-site Cabinet meeting takes place amid a backdrop of shifting sands in the Middle East and a potential escalation in the Iran war as the Islamic Republic targeted U.S. gas tankers in an Egyptian port.
