13.02.2020 | Iraq rocket attack: US base attacked by two missiles - Middle East on brink
Source - The Daily Express

It comes weeks after tensions reached boiling point between the United States and Iran in the Middle East. It is not yet known who is responsible for the latest attack. Reports suggest two missiles were fired at the base in Kirkuk. It is not yet know if there have been any casaulties. The same base was attacked by Iran in January which saw tensions escalate between US and Tehran. That attack was sparked by the killing by US armed forces of Qassim Suleimani, commander of the Iranian Forces. It comes just hours after Iran warned it is ready to strike the United States and Israel if they give it any reason to do so, the head of the elite Revolutionary Guards said in a live broadcast on state television. Major General Hossein Salami said in a speech at a ceremony marking the 40th day since the death of top commander Qassem Soleimani: ”If you make the slightest error, we will hit both of you.” Earlier today hundreds of women took to the streets of Iraq to protest at the government, which has often faced criticism recently of being a puppet for Tehran. The killing of Soleimani will lead to the liberation of Jerusalem, the spokesman for the Revolutionary Guards said earlier, according to the Tasnim news agency. Ramezan Sharif said: “The cowardly and craven assassination of commander Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis by the Americans will lead to the liberation of Jerusalem, by the grace of God.
