Saudi Arabia's foreign minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi discussed efforts to reduce tensions in the Middle East during a call Sunday, according to the Saudi Foreign Ministry.

The two officials reviewed "the latest developments amid the current situation" and discussed "diplomatic efforts to reduce escalation," the ministry said in a statement shared on X.

Bin Farhan also affirmed Saudi Arabia's commitment to continuing its role in "promoting security and stability in a manner that serves the shared interests of all countries and peoples of the region," the ministry added.
