A source close to the former President claimed he plans to speak to CPAC, hosted between February 25 to February 28. Mr Trump is expected to speak about the Republican Party and the Conservative movement in the US, Mr Trump’s planned appearance comes a month after he left office for the Democrat, and will mark the first time he appears in public since his speech at Joint Base Andrews in Washington DC. The source familiar with the plans told Reuters he will be speaking on the last day of CPAC. They said: “He’ll be talking about the future of the Republican Party and the conservative movement. “Also look for the 45th President to take on President (Joe) Biden’s disastrous amnesty and border policies.” CPAC has confirmed on their website the former President will speak at their annual conference. Listed on the speaker page alongside former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and actor Jon Voight, CPAC said of Mr Trump: “Donald J. Trump is the very definition of the American success story, setting the standards of excellence in his business endeavours, and now, for the United States of America. A Morning Consult/POLITICO poll showed how the former President still enjoys massive support from Republican voters for a potential run in 2024. The survey, carried out between February 14 and February 15, sees 54 percent support Mr Trump to represent the Republican Party in 2024. Mike Pence, former Vice President, is in second place with 12 percent support. A previous poll from January 8 to January 11, shortly after the US Capitol riots, saw Mr Trump with 42 percent support. It comes after Mr Trump blasted Mitch McConnell, Republican Senate leader, this week and called him “dour, sullen, and unsmiling political hack”. In a statement from his office, he said: “If Republican Senators are going to stay with him, they will not win again."
